Diagnosed with Bladder Cancer in January 2016
My Dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer in January 2016. They found a very large tumor growth inside the bladder and he went through two surgeries to remove it. He was given about 3 weeks to heal after the 2nd surgery and then he began Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) treatments, which are similar to chemotherapy, except that they are a form of immunotherapy. Immediately after he was diagnosed with cancer, I began doing as much research as possible on alternative methods to help eliminate the cancer and also to prevent it from coming back. That is when I discovered many articles, books and personal survival stories about cancer patients who were healed from the Rick Simpson CBD Oil regime. My Dad has an aggressive form of bladder cancer, which has a very high rate of recurrence. The odds of success with using the traditional BCG immunotherapy and keeping the cancer at bay for long terms is not very high, so that is why it was even more important for me to find an alternative method to help treat my Dad.
We started him on OCMEDS’ ACDC RSO (high CBD) oil in late January and he has been taking it daily ever since. According to this regime, he is to consume a total of 60 grams of RSO over a period of 3 months or less. After that, he will continue to take a maintenance dose of 1 to 2 drops at bedtime. We started him with taking a dosage the size of a half of a grain of a short dry rice 3 times a day (morning, noon and before bed). The RSO does not taste very good (imagine the taste of grass from under your lawnmower), so I initially put the oil into a small piece of bread and then rolled it up so he could eat it more easily. I also read that you can put the oil in between two slices of banana. We tried both, but the taste did not agree with my Dad, so eventually I ended up ordering empty pill capsules (you can find them on Amazon) and I put the oil in the capsules so he could swallow the pill and not taste it. He liked that much better. He adjusted to the initial dose quite well and without any adverse side effects. He felt the effects of the oil slightly, but we had expected that.
The RSO protocol then says to increase the dosage by doubling it every four days. We were able to do that until he hit the point where he was consuming about 3 long rice grains of oil 3 times a day. He has continued to take that amount and we are about half way to the 60 gram mark now. You can continue to increase your dosage every four days until you hit about 8-9 drops of oil per day and then you can maintain that dosage (3 times a day) until you complete the 60 grams. My Dad was not able to get to the point where he could take the 8-9 drops 3 times a day, so I think it varies for everyone and you just have to monitor how often and how much you increase the dosage so that you feel comfortable with it. If you can’t consume the 60 grams in 3 months, then that’s okay – it is recommended to consume it as fast as possible, but every person is different. My Dad will be taking over 3 months to consume his 60 grams, but we are allowing his body to dictate the right amount for him.
In addition, instead of taking one in the morning, afternoon, and at bedtime, he has now modified his intake to morning, dinnertime and bedtime. This allows him to function at his best during the day and afternoon when he needs to get things done. In the beginning, he would take the oil and within an hour or so, he would be asleep and take a 1 to 2 hour nap, but now he can take the oil and it doesn’t affect his ability to carry on his daily tasks. But in the evening, it definitely has helped his sleeping. He can sleep soundly and he has slept better than he ever has before. In addition, he says that the oil has helped him to get his mind off the cancer. In the beginning, he said he couldn’t focus on anything – a TV show, reading an article, listening to a conversation – because his mind would wander off to worry about thoughts of cancer. But when he takes the oil, it helps his mind relax and not focus on the cancer. So he has also been very thankful for the side effects of taking the oil.
In late April, he will have his first cancer screening since the tumor was removed. With bladder cancer, the probability of re-growth at this early stage is especially high. So we are praying that he will be declared cancer free thanks to the oil regime. He will then have the cancer screening every 3 months since it’s so prone to return… and we hope that the oil will help keep the cancer away forever!
One more helpful thing that we are doing that I would like to share is a baking soda drink that has helped keep my Dad’s PH levels up. I have read much debate over whether PH levels affect the ability of cancer to regrow, but after reading many personal stories of individuals who have remained cancer free due to baking soda and also after reading articles like this one from the National Health institute, my Dad and I are convinced that it’s something worth trying: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3594450/
I purchased PH test strips (you can also purchase these from Amazon) and my Dad started taking them in late January. His PH level was 5.5. Just to explain a bit, the PH scale goes from 0 to 14 and you want your PH to be a 7 or above. (Below 7 is acidic and 7 or above is alkaline). Cancer patients typically have a very low PH. I started making the baking soda drinks for my Dad. I have read that you can take the baking soda in water or with coffee or tea, but I found that mixing it with molasses helps increase my Dad’s PH even higher. He is now at a steady PH level of 8 throughout the day, which is very good. If you have time to read the linked article above, it will help explain how PH levels relate to cancer. He takes 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 1 teaspoon of molasses twice a day (once in the morning and once at bedtime). But just like the oil, baking soda doesn’t taste too good! So I found ways to make it taste better for my Dad. Here is exactly what I do now: I heat a pot on the stove to a low heat and I warm Native Forest Organic Classic Coconut Milk (it comes in a 5 ounce can and is sugar free), then I add 8 teaspoons of baking soda and I add 8 teaspoons of molasses and stir it in. The coconut milk helps offset the bad taste, but then I add in a sugar-free coffee syrup to really help make it taste better. I am using Torani Sugar Free Syrup, Irish Cream – but there are a LOT of other flavors out there if you prefer other tastes. I use about a quarter cup or more – I just add it to taste. Then, I stir it a bit more and then I evenly spoon it out into 8 separate cups. This allows my Dad to have 2 drinks every day for four days. I have purchased small cups just for these drinks. He keeps them in the refrigerator and drinks them using a straw because that helps greatly with the baking soda taste not hitting your taste buds.
Since my Dad has started taking the oil and the baking soda and drinking more water and trying to eat better each day, he is feeling much better. He is 75, but walks a few miles each day and stays very active. Before starting these treatments, he had been losing weight and was not feeling well physically or mentally, but now he has hope and he is feeling back to his normal self. We are very thankful for the hope that these alternative approaches have given us and we are looking forward to have a cancer free screening in April!
My dad will go back on April 28th for his first cystoscopy (to look for cancer regrowth), so I will update this post then with the results. At this point, we are praying for the best results, but we won’t know until April and then after that, he will have regular testing every 3 months to look for cancer regrowth.
